Day 1, Arrival at the Kilimanjaro airport (Tanzania)
The Kilimanjaro Airport, named after Mount Kilimanjaro, is an international airport, strategically located in northern Tanzania. It serves all major international airlines from around the world, and it’s close to Mount Kilimanjaro, the town of Moshi and Arusha City- a tourist hub to all famous national parks in Northern Tanzania: Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti.
On arrival, you will be met by our driver/guide and taken to your hotel in Arusha City (drive time up to 1 hour); spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2, Arusha/Tarangire National Park
Early after Breakfast, leave the hotel and start a journey to the Tarangire National Park; drive time about 1.5 hours. Tarangire (size 2,600 square km) is a fantastic park to begin a Safari in northern Tanzania. In dry months of June-October, thousands of animals congregated on Tarangire River to get a good supply of water but also plenty of predators hang around to pray. Tarangire is famous for
its large herds of elephant and its many gigantic baobab trees and displays many of the large African mammals. Typical animals present in Tarangire include wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland. On this day you will spot some of these animals.
At lunchtime, relax by the Tarangire River and enjoy your lunch and the scenic view. Later transfer to Lake Manyara for Dinner and overnight.
Day 3, Lake Manyara National Park:
Wake up for early breakfast and start half day game viewing in the park. Lake Manyara, although small compared to Tarangire, has diverse plants and animals such as lions, giraffe, an elephant. The dense woodlands in the park conceal leopards, monkeys, baboons and some 380 species of birds.
The highlights of Lake Manyara include a welcome by baboons and elephants as you enter the Manyara park gate but also sightings of the renowned tree-climbing lions.
Afternoon, leave Manyara for Serengeti.
Day 4, Lake Manyara/Serengeti National Park:
Serengeti is the highlight and dream of many tourists visiting Northern Tanzania. Its size 5,700 square miles holds many surprises endless plain which offers exquisite scenery, and a high concentration of diverse animals.
Wake up for breakfast followed by a full day game drive with packed lunch. You will be taken through the Savannah, protruding rocks, bush streams, rivers, swamps and a wonderful selection of birds and animals including the BIG FIVE-5. Big five refers to The African Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo. Serengeti is also known for its ‘great migration’ herds of wildebeest and zebra. Great migration refers to the time of the year when Wildebeest and Zebra congregate and move in great number, ready to cross the Grumeti River, while being followed by predators. It’s a survival of the fittest as an exodus of animals meet predators in and around the river as they try to cross to the other side.
If you’re lucky you will have rare opportunity to witness this wonders of Africa as well as spotting endangered species such as black rhino. End of your full day game drive, return to the hotel for Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Serengeti National Park/Ngorongoro Crater:
On this day you will enjoy breakfast then leave Serengeti for Ngorongoro Crater, with few stopovers en-route. Your driver will stop at Olduvai Gorge in Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Olduvai Gorge is an archaeological site, a World Heritage Site, where, in 1959, Dr. Louis Leakey and his wife discovered the Skull of ”Nutcracker Man” commonly known as Zinjanthropus, and Homo Hablis or ”Handy Man”. Both of these are regarded as significant steps for the evolution of mankind. See how the Maasai people co-exist in harmony with other wild animals in the park, at Ngorongoro Conservation Area, nowhere else in the world has there been such a practice.
After about 5 hours drive you will arrive to Ngorongoro Crater and relax at leisure for the rest of the day.
Day 6 Ngorongoro/Ngorongoro Crater:
Today you will wake up early, have breakfast then travel down into the crater for a full day game drive.
The Ngorongoro Crater was once a gigantic volcano, perhaps taller than Kilimanjaro. Today – its peak long since collapsed and eroded – it is now an extensive highland area with the famous Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. This natural Caldera covers an area 260 sq. km and it harbors approximately 25,000 large mammals, almost half consisting of Zebra and Wildebeest. The environment within the crater is a mix of swamps, forest, springs and salt lakes all of which provide a steady supply of food and protection to the mammals.
Enjoy your picnic lunch at the lake, in the center of the crater. End of crater game drive return to the hotel for Diner and overnight
Day 7 Ngorongoro/Arusha
Toda you will leave Ngorongoro for Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport to catch a flight back home. On the way, you will stop at Meserani Snake Park.
